About the Author
Joel J. Lerner was a professor and the chairman of the business division at Sullivan County Community College. He presently is a member of the Board of Trustees of that institution. He received his B.S. from New York University and his M.S. and P.D. from Columbia University. He has coauthored the Schaum's Outlines of Principles of Accounting II, Intermediate Accounting, Bookkeeping and Accounting, Business Mathematics, and Introduction to Business and is the sole author of McGraw-Hill's Financial Planning for the Utterly Confused, now in its fifth edition. James A. Cashin was Emeritus Professor of Accounting at Hofstra University, where he was formerly Chairman of the Accounting Department. He was a coauthor of several accounting books, including Schaum's Outline of Principles of Accounting II, Schaum's Outline of Cost Accounting, and he was editor in chief of the Handbook for Auditors. Professor Cashin was a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor. He held a B.S. degree in accounting from the University of Georgia and an M.B.A. from New York University. He taught in the Graduate School of the City University of New York and New York University.

I like it. It has plenty of practice problems and helps to explain everything so that it is easy to understand. I had to give 4 stars only because it gives the solutions right under the problem. I like the solutions, but they could have put them in the back of the book.
I bought this book when I was taking Accounting II. Schaum's books are practical, with great examples. Any time you have a problem in any subject, I recommend Schaum's. I used them in undergraduate school. They may have different writers but the flavor of the writing is always the same. I recommend them to students all the time. I have never been disappointed.
This book covers Accounting 101 completely. No text book needed. Covers debits and credits, financial statements, everything Accounting 101 covers. Highly recommend this book
My accounting textbook for my college Accounting I class isn't the greatest and doesn't have that many example problems. I'm a visual learner so seeing the problems and their solution is extremely helpful. Like someone else stated in their review, it won't replace your current accounting textbook but is it a perfect addition if you are also a visual learner, or want to practice problems and see the solutions, since my current book doesn't show solutions (only instructor's copy does).

A phenomenal book for learning the basics of accounting. What really made me enjoy this book were the practice sections. Other accounting books describe how to do accounting, but this describes the process as well as allows you to practice what you learn. If you are going into accounting, this book is a must!

Students often find it difficult to make the connection between problems illustrated in a textbook and the homework problems at the end of the chapter.
