Very good cookbook for getting a look at what is better to eat with digestion problems. Very positive, its all aboout what you can have, not what you shouldn't have!!

This book is good when used in conjunction with other books. I’ve been intently researching the low FODMAP diet since my doctor told me it helps with IBS, and I want to have a good understanding before I undertake such a commitment. This book provided a few bits of FODMAP information I haven’t come across elsewhere, some convenient tables with what to eat/not eat, and a few good recipes, but overall it isn’t the best FODMAP resource I’ve come across. My main complaint is that I'm (and I assume most other people are) looking for simple, relatively quick, easy recipes. There are a few desserts and breakfasts that look good and I will try out, but most of the entrees are very time consuming, and contain ingredients that I’m not even sure I can get at my supermarket, or anywhere around here for that matter. I noticed other people said that some of the recipes contained items that aren’t low-FODMAP. I did notice that the banana bread called for ripe bananas, even though every other source says that only UNRIPE bananas are acceptable. So if you do adopt these recipes, always do your research on the ingredients to make sure they really are acceptable.Overall, I think the book is barely worth the $11 that I paid for it. I got few more tips for starting and managing through the low-FODMAP diet with a FEW doable recipes. I suggest looking through a physical copy of the book to see if the recipes are within your time/ingredient limits. Otherwise, look elsewhere for resources.

"The Complete Low-FODMAP Diet: A Revolutionary Plan for Managing IBS and Other Digestive Disorders" lays out the principles for a diet to control the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome as well as help for non-responsive celiacs and those with IBD whose symptoms may be aggravated by sensitivity to FODMAPs. The book is written by Sue Shepherd, PhD, an Australian nutritionist who was instrumental in developing the low-FODMAP diet, and by Peter Gibson, MD, a gastroenterologist at Monash University in Australia, which continues to do a lot of research on IBS and the low-FODMAP diet. FODMAP is an acronym for fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols, which are all poorly absorbed short-chain carbohydrates. Indigestible sugars, in other words. Lactose, fructose, and polyols are poorly absorbed in many people, while fructans and galato-oligosaccharides are not absorbed by anyone. When they are not absorbed, the sugars are easily fermented by intestinal bacteria, which produces symptoms. The first part of the book explains the principles behind the low-FODMAP diet. The second part of the book is recipes. There are about 60 pages of substance, followed by 190 pages of recipes and menus that I did not find at all useful. The good news is that the substance of the book is short and easy to digest (no pun intended, ahem). The authors begin by explaining the differences between food allergies, hypersensitivities, and intolerance. IBS symptoms are largely caused by intolerance. They briefly discuss the Rome III diagnostic criteria for IBS before getting into theories about causes and descriptions of common symptoms. Oddly, the authors are dismissive of small intestinal bacteria overgrowth (SIBO) as a cause, though there is now a large body of research on it. The attitude toward SIBO seems obtuse after a while, as the authors claim that the symptoms of IBS are caused by fermentation, by bacteria, of indigestible sugars but dismiss the idea that there are problematic bacteria there. The meat of the book is the tables of what foods you can and cannot eat, depending on which sugars you're not tolerating. There is a comprehensive table of low, moderate, and high-FODMAP foods on pages 44-45, which is the most handy reference (note that there is an error: broccoli is a moderate fructan food, not low). It is recommended that people with IBS follow the low-FODMAP diet strictly for 2 months, then introduce some other foods one at a time to test tolerance. The authors offer advice on how to do this, examples of what you might eat for snacks, drinks, and which alcoholic beverages are acceptable, baking tips, and substitutions for wheat flour. There is advice specifically for vegans, vegetarians, diabetics, celiacs, and children. I should warn you that the diet is very restrictive in that there are very few vegetables you can eat and fruit is also limited, more in quantity but less in variety than vegetables. To give you an idea, I have 60 vegetable soups in my repertoire, and only 14 are low-FODMAP -and that isn't even considering onions and garlic, for which I substitute oils. But the low-FODMAP diet relieves symptoms in 75% of those with IBS. It worked wonders for me, so I highly recommend trying it. I have some criticisms of this book, however. One, as I mentioned, is its indifference to finding and treating the causes of IBS. No one would want to stay on this diet forever, as it is difficult to get adequate vitamins and minerals due to the restrictions on fruits and vegetables. Unlike most medical diets, low-FODMAP restricts foods that are your primary sources of nutrition, not only filler foods like grains, sugar, and dairy products. There is no mention that fungal overgrowths can also cause IBS. There is no mention of IBS symptoms that are not confined to the GI tract, namely neurological and inflammatory symptoms. For me, it was the neurological symptoms associated with fructose malabsorption that led me to seek and find this dietary solution. Also no mention that all of this fermentation of non-absorbed saccharides increases the permeability of the intestinal wall, causing some nasty systemic symptoms that are more alarming than IBS.In any case, the diet is very helpful -or the principles of it are. The sample diets are too low in vegetables and absurdly high in carbohydrates. Very bad if you have an intestinal overgrowth. But I've been on the low-FODMAP diet for 4 months now, so I offer some tips: (1) They are not kidding when they say that minute amounts of onion can cause trouble. Don't eat anything that has onion or garlic powder or unidentified "spices" in it, even in the smallest amount. You don't want one onion molecule. It took me months to identify and eliminate all onion contaminants. (2) You can cook with onion and garlic oils for flavor. Fructans are not soluble in oil. The botulism scare concerning garlic oil is from uncooked oil. If you cook garlic in oil, that will kill any and all nasty organisms. I substitute ½ teaspoon garlic oil for 1 clove garlic and 2 tablespoons onion oil for 1 large onion. (3) Remember that it is the total FODMAP load for each meal or sitting that matters. Even low-FODMAP foods can cause symptoms if ingested in huge quantity. Don't eat two moderate-fructan or moderate-polyol foods together. (4) You may want to eliminate moderate-fructan and moderate-polyol foods entirely until you are symptom-free, as you may not tolerate them as well as the authors suppose. (5) You can eat the green tops of onions, leeks, and related plants. The book mentions scallion tops, but I contacted the Department of Gastroenterology at Monash University to make sure that this was true of leeks as well. They said up to 1.5 cups of leek greens could be eaten. I use leek greens in place of onions to flavor vegetable and chicken broths for soup. (6) You will find that many fruits and vegetables are not mentioned in this book. You can sometimes find fructose/glucose numbers in online nutrition databases, so you can determine for yourself if a food is suitable. But there is no resource for fructan content. Monash University has a FODMAP smartphone app that may be helpful. I don't know how often they update it. (7) Don't bother with hydrogen breath tests for fructose or lactose malabsorption. The question isn't whether you have fructose or lactose malabsorption. You probably do. Most people do. The question is whether they are causing your symptoms. (8) If you don't tolerate heavy cream or half & half, or if you want to make your own lactose-free milk, a company called Seeking Health makes lactase drops. Let them sit in your dairy product for 24 hours to break down 70% of the lactose or 48 hours to break down 96%. There is a downloadable data sheet on Seeking Health's web site. (9) The book is not clear on what spelt bread products are suitable. It's sourdough spelt bread that has been proofed overnight so that the yeast has consumed all of the fructans.

I was at a loss as to controlling my ribs symptoms, especially sudden episodes of diarrhea. I was already on a gluten-free and lactose-free diet.. My doctor told me I am hypersensitive to additives, gluten, and lactose intolerant.I purchased The Complete Low FODMAP Diet to help me identify common food triggers for IBS. I was amazed with the information and began the elimination diet plan immediately. I kept a detailed eating diary and followed the instructions. My condition improved as soon as I eliminated the high FODMAP foods. The book is nicely organized, easy to understand, and includes some good recipes.

I have had IBS-D for 10 years. I have been following this program for 5 months now. I have been symptom free for the past 4 months!! This book is a good starting point, clearly written and easy to understand. After reading it I dug into the internet to really find recipes that fit my tastes and lifestyle. The intitial phase took longer than two weeks for me to really settle into, however, I have had such great results and and have been able to adapt so many of my regular meals to fodmap (just substituting bad foods for low fodmap replacements) that I haven’t even really bothered with the challenge phase, with the exception of a few items that I have wanted to add back into my diet.

Just OK. I have IBS with flare ups, and so I bought this book to help me figure out my problems. The first part of the book is worth making the purchase though, because it explains a lot about what ails you if you are like me and do not do well with a lot of foods. The recipes are not all that great (I don't even want to try them), but I am glad the book has accurate information that helped me overcome some gut issues. Using the recommendations, along with some other products I found on Amazon (Heather's Tummy Fiber CAN Organic Acacia Senegal (16 oz) for IBS) and all sorts of enzymes and vitamins, I am able to overcome my digestive issues and lead a normal life without drugs.

About the Author

Kelley Armstrong is the New York Times bestselling author of the Women of the Otherworld series. She has been telling stories since before she could write. Her earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers’ dismay. All efforts to make her produce “normal” stories failed. Today she continues to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolves while safely locked in her basement writing-dungeon. From Reading and Writing Urban Fantasy and Paranormal RomanceAt a GlancePersonal Demon was good but not great. I am not a huge fan of Hope so it was hard to care about her story. But there were some redeemable qualities that made this book enjoyable. The GoodI really was excited when I first started reading this book. With Hope infiltrating a gang, how could that not be an awesome plot? And I wasn't disappointed for most of the book on that regard. The plot was action packed and suspenseful. I really loved reading about Hope working jobs for the gang and her banter with Karl was just all kinds of fun.Though Hope isn't my fav character of the series, I was excited every time she and Karl got together to fight, make out, or just irritate the hell out of each other. I liked their relationship and how it built up. How Karl finally realized how important Hope is to him. It was all very sweet.I also liked how Armstrong handled Karl. We know him to be selfish, distant, and untrustworthy. But he always had this aura of cool around him. He still had all that but Armstong just made him a little more likable by showing his sensitive side. Hope is good for him, she makes him a better person. The mystery was spot on. Personal Demon actually had a more mystery feel than an urban fantasy feel. I liked that change up. It kept me on my toes. The BadI was hoping this book would make me like Hope more but nope. I fell in love with Karl more than anyone. I think Amrstong could have done a lot more with Hope.Armstrong wrote half the book in Lucas's POV. I did not like that at all. Those were the most boring parts for me. I think Armstrong really can't pull off a male POV in general. The second half the book focuses a lot on the Cabal family story and I lost interest. I no longer find that plot line entertaining. The SnugglyThere was a little snuggly but nothing big. No real sex scenes.OverallThis is an average read for me. It filled the time and I mostly enjoyed it but I wouldn't reread it. There are a lot better books in the series, but for anyone who follows the series, this is a must read. Recommended.Quote"Remember when we met? Before you left, you said you were going to make a fool of yourself over me. That's still what you're worried about. That you'll find yourself doing things you never dreamed of doing, things you laughed at in others, and you'll make a fool of yourself."

Another great book in the Otherworld series. Offering dual points of view was great, I love how each new book contains plots that have continued from book to book from other characters.

The "Women of the Otherworld" series is one of my favourites. Armstrong's choice of a different narrator every couple of books (although each narrator is an integral part of the supernatural world, and has a connection, however slight, with the characters from the previous books) helps keep the series fresh, and her characters generally are well-rounded and three-dimensional.In this instalment, the narrator - half of the time - is Hope, who was introduced in the previous book, "No Humans Involved." For the first time, though (as far as I can recall) Armstrong uses alternating narratives, and certainly this is the first book featuring the perspective of one of her male characters. It's an interesting change from the previous novels, but unfortunately, I didn't feel that it totally succeeded. In the past I could barely put one of the "Otherworld" novels down once I started, and have re-read the early ones at least once. This instalment was a real struggle - I actually put it aside halfway through for several weeks, before eventually finishing it - and I can't see myself rereading it.My main problem was I couldn't really care about Hope as a character. Because she first appears in the preceding book, and I really did not get a firm sense of her, I did not have the same sentimental connection to her as to some of the previous narrators. Furthermore, Hope herself is comparatively rather dull and insipid. I would have been more drawn in, I think, had the story centred on characters who have made more than one previous appearance, and who are much more vibrant and three-D - for example Elena, Savannah, or even Cassandra the vampire. The relationship with Karl Marsten also didn't quite ring true, in contrast to the other pairings in this series. What did partly succeed though was Lucas as a narrator, which gives me high hopes for the forthcoming "Men of the Otherworld."As always, Armstrong writes vividly and evocatively, and I have no real complaints about the plot and narrative structure. It was the choice of protagonist for this book that made it hard for me to get into it. Maybe there's something in a previous reviewer's theory that it was rushed to meet a deadline. Finally, for those who are encountering the "Women of the Otherworld" series for the first time: while each book theoretically can stand alone in terms of plot, the series will not make complete sense unless read in chronological order, and the reader runs the risk of missing out on some of the more subtle developments of plot and character that connect the novels in the series.

I never thought the day would come where I would give Kelley Armstrong fewer than five stars. From her very first book, I have devoured the series, each book getting better and better than the last. I love keeping up with characters that are nearly family to me at this point. With that said, this latest installment was a disappointment. I nearly stopped reading for the first 150 or so pages. I was bored, found the new characters flat, and felt like I was reading a poorly developing mystery/crime fighting novel (all of her books have the `who-done-it' premise, but are, most of the time, so much more). The story felt rushed and forced. I know Kelley has started a new crime series that is not supernatural (which is great, always wonderful for an artist to spread their wings), and it seemed like this book attempted to be a crossover between what the series has been thus far and what her new fiction has been about. Nearly halfway through the book, I finally got hooked, and tore through the last half. It felt like I was reading Kelley Armstrong again. The first part of the book I would rate 1 star, the second 4, so I am compromising and labeling a 3. If you are a loyal fan of Kelley, you will still enjoy this book. If you are new to her, read her other work first and build up to this one. While Hope Adams is my least favorite Woman of the Underworld thus far, I have high hopes that she can be further developed in the next installment. She has great potential as a truly deep and multifaceted character.

I wasn't expecting to fall in love with the main character, Neruda by page 19, but it happened.Vulnerable, artistic, and awkward, Neruda is in love with love. He's studied it in the poetry of his namesake, but he's never experienced it until now. He thinks he knows how it works, but the reality of love is crazy, messy, beautiful. People surprise and disappoint you. Love falters when you expect it to soar, it endures when you expect it to die.

Critically acclaimed author Carrie Arcos's newest novel features an endearing hero looking for his one true love. In this unconventional story of friendship and love, we meet Neruda who falls hard for Callie as they work on an English project. But does she feel the same way? "Like all tragic love stories, she left me....for kindergarten at a different school. On the last day together, Ella gave me a kiss on the cheek. I was embarrassed and ran and hid from her refusing to come out and say good-bye.I never saw her again."There is something so incredibly endearing about Neruda and his view on life. His namesake, Pablo Neruda, is widely known for his intoxicating and lush views on love, romance, and soul mates. Neruda follows suit and believes that if he can just find love, he will have it all. But in real life, sometimes love isn't the end all be all or the end result. "Because Pablo Neruda was not just one of the greatest love poets. He was The Greatest Love Poet of all time.I, on the other hand, am the unluckiest in love. It's not for lack of trying. So far I'm about zero for seven, the names of the girls written on my heart like the scars I can still recall on Ella's knee—Marisol, Stephanie, Jessi, Angela, Trinity, and Elise."Carrie Arcos's writing is quite beautiful. Being in Neruda's perspective, his romanticized views on love as well as his artistic side lends itself to descriptive prose and some beautifully introspective moments. At the heart of the book is the friendship slowly formed between Neruda and Callie. The two are paired together for an English project where they have to do reports on each other. But soon both realize that they're just hanging out with each other and not just for the project. In a small way, the way their friendship formed reminded me a bit of Josh and Nasyta from The Sea of Tranquility—a bond formed that neither of them really wanted but it happened anyway.Neruda goes through a character change from beginning to end, with his views on life shifting slightly through his experiences, a coming-of-age novel through and through. I really liked seeing him parse through everything, as he is put in a difficult position with his parents."...secrets are insidious things. The truth wants to be found out."This is a very character-driven story but I felt like the plot was almost a little too sparse. The characters were interesting but not enough for their interactions to carry the story without more going on. There was also a plot point that I found completely unbelievable and I couldn't' suspend disbelief. Three years prior, Neruda had started writing a prisoner as part of a school pen pal project. Now this prison is out and they're best friends. I had a really hard time believing that any school would be able to get such a program going without legal repercussions and questions of safety. I know not all prisoners are dangerous but it didn't seem probable in today's day and age. "The ugliest, hardest, meanest men cry when they think no one can hear. They would be ashamed if the knew others could hear, but through all these years, I've clung to that sound because it gives me hope. Makes me realize we are all the same in the middle of the night, fighting against the great tide of loneliness that threatens to drown us. All longing for someone to hear, to truly know us as we are."* Thanks to Philomel Books for providing me with an early copy for an honest review.

This book is a contemporary work, I was never been found of contemporaries but this one made me love contemporaries. The way it was written is really impressive, I really love the author’s style on writing, such an easy read. You can finish the book in one sitting because the story is really interesting. I fell in love with the characters of Neruda and Callie immediately. This book is about friendship, love, family and art 💜. One thing I love about it is that it shows me how love changes people, how art give life to anything to anyone. A book full of art is so magnificent it gave. I am motivated by this book to do more art because since I went to college I’ve been busy and stop doing art but this book brought back the magic in me 🙂 thank to the author for giving it back.About the ending, I’m satisfied how the story end it might not what others expected but I really think it’s the perfect ending for such a great story like this.I’m trying my best not to say parts that might spoil you guys. I highly recommend this book to everyone. All of you should check out this book.

A job well done. Recommend to ya readers and readers who love a good story.I received a ARC of this book to give an honest review.

Carrie Arcos' third book Crazy Messy Beautiful was lighter that her other two books, yet doesn't shy away from tackling one of the biggest teen issues: love. I saw my own teenage self in the main character, hopeless romantic, sensitive artist, struggling to navigate the things we only know from film or television or poetry. Of course things don't go as hoped with our main character and we find out that films and poetry often get love so very wrong! Great read, I carried it with me for 48 hours, reading it in line at Disneyland and on a cross-country flight. It is perfect for the teen or adult in your love as a gift for St. Valentines Day! xo

Carrie Arcos's books just get better and better with each one she writes. Crazy Messy Beautiful is so rich and gave me all the feels; I laughed, I cried, I got angry and and felt angsty. Loved the characters and the journey i got to go on with them through this story.

I loved it! Life is crazy messy and beautiful!

I've loved Carrie Arcos' previous two books and the third did not disappoint. I found myself quickly drawn into the story and stayed up way past my bedtime because I just couldn't put it down. A must read.

Review

You’ve seem ‘em all over Pinterest and Instagram — those why-didn’t-I-think-of-that mug cakes that almost look too good to eat (the key word here being almost). With no boxed mix in sight, these crazy-quick treats are easily our newest favorite food trend. Haven’t tried one yet? Bake up something new at lightning speed (okay, in minutes … still fast) with these four ridiculously easy microwaved desserts from the new book Mug Cakes. Chocolate Peanut Butter Mug Cake: Forget hot chocolate. This sweet peanut butter dessert will put your go-to, cold-weather drink to shame. Blueberry Muffin Mug Cake: Because dessert for breakfast is always a good idea — in fact, it’s an incredible idea! Chocolate Fudge S’mores Mug Cake: No bonfire in sight? No problem. This indulgent dessert is filled with marshmallows, chocolate and most importantly — graham crackers. Carrot Cake Mug Cake: Not a huge fan of chocolate? This mug cake is a sweet treat without being too rich. Still, you’re definitely in danger of wanting more and making more of this single-serving goodness — because carrot cake in a cup is just that amazing. (Rachel Sylvester The Nest, 9/24/2014)... if you haven't tried mug cakes for breakfast, you're in for a treat. Get your mug out, gather a few simple ingredients and prepare for a steamy morning with two scrumptious breakfast mug-cake recipes ― blueberry muffin, and almond and berry ― from Mima Sinclair's new book, Mug Cakes. Blueberry muffin―This is so delicious and so easy… just don't get into the habit of eating one for breakfast everyday! Almond and berry breakfast mug―Earn yourself a few brownie points by treating your other half to breakfast in bed with this nut and fruit sensation. (TODAY.com, 10/27/2014)Who says you need a crowd for a cake? It's a snap to make one of these incredibly satisfying, microwaveable mug cakes. (Reader's Digest, 11/5/2014)Mug Cakes is the name of new book but it is also a concept – make cakes in mere minutes, in a mug, in the microwave. Author Mima Sinclair has compiled 40 such cakes including the Almond Berry Breakfast Mug we are also featuring. Kids love to make these as afterschool treats. (Bakepedia, 10/30/14)This sweet, special breakfast [Almond & Berry Breakfast Mug] is from Mug Cakes, a whole book dedicated to these very easy and quick to make desserts. Also check out the Chocolate & Peanut Butter Mug Cake by author Mima Sinclair. Note her Tips about using frozen fruit to make this even easier – perfect for cold mornings...Earn yourself a few brownie points by treating your other half to breakfast in bed with this nut and fruit sensation. (Bakepedia, 10/30/14)The personal dessert is a smashing hit. This is not a trend, but a permanent part of our culinary landscape. Now Mug Cakes give us, well, individual cakes cooked in mugs and cups. The book has 40 speedy recipes, speedy because they are baked in the microwave for fast transition from batter to piping warm cake. The book divides the cakes into four chapters: Classics include Chocolate and Peanut Butter, Carrot Cake, Gingerbread, and Coffee & Walnut Cake. Hot out of the microwave, you could wait for cooling and frosting these cakes — and there are ideas for that wait-and-frost idea here. But the concept in Mug Cakes is often bake and eat. So the toppings include whipped cream, caramel, chocolate chips and marshmallows. If you want something upscale, then the Occasions chapter offers Black Forest, Strawberries & Cream, and Almond & Berry with a streusel topping. This last one is called a breakfast mug and I can think of no better breakfast than streusel and berries. Happy Hour introduces some ideas with boozy ingredients: Pina Colada with rum. Baileys on the Rocks, and Guinness Cake. The Guinness specialty is baked in a glass mug so you can see the tall tower of moist, velvety cake. There is even a Mojito Cake, complete with rum, lime, and peppermint frosting. Finally, there are some very contemporary and quite rich Treats: Salted Caramel & Chocolate, Chocolate Ginger & Pear Cake, Sticky Toffee, and of course Rocky Road and Chocolate Fudge S’Mores. Best of all, the recipes are scaled for one-mug desserts. You’ll have enough batter just for you. You can always double down to avoid a scowling spouse. But if you are alone, and crave a treat, and have a microwave, you are just moments away from sighing satisfaction. Mug Cakes is a clever idea packaged as a clever book. (Brian Cooking by the Book, 10/28/14)I am in love with this cookbook!Everything so cute and easy to make in a mug! It's the perfect gift for college foodies! (Vanilla Sugar Blog, 11/7/2014)Mug Cakes: 40 Speedy Cakes to Make in a Microwave by Mima Sinclair isn't specifically written for college students, but it should be: the recipes are easy, fun, cheap, and perfect for anyone living in a small apartment or residence hall room. Even though there are only 40 recipes in the book, they vary enough so that you can find what you're craving -- whether it's fruit-flavored or chocolate -- while also feeling like the book has plenty of recipes to choose from. There are also some fun surprises, like a Rice Krispies Treat-type of cake as well as a blueberry muffin recipe you could easily use for a quick breakfast. (Kelci Lynn Lucier About.Com)... The photos are mouthwatering, the recipes are simple to read and make. There is a recipe in this book for everyone too, gluten free, dairy and egg free, chocolate, fruit, dessert and even breakfast. Looking through this cute cookbook, I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to make but guess what….? no big deal, it’s only one serving so you can try one a day if you want. I like the idea of making just one serving for when it’s just me and my husband enjoying a movie at home and I can quickly make two of these and not have leftovers. If you are single or a college student what a perfect cookbook to have handy. Gift giving season is coming pretty quickly and I know a my daughter and her roommates would love to have Mug Cakes cookbook. Put this cookbook on your list of must haves this year and try out the 40 different cakes and don’t feel guilty, it’s only one serving! (Suzanne Platt You Made That?, 11/11/2014)This book is divided up into 4 main sections – Classics, Occasions, Happy Hour and Treats. I also appreciate the fact that there is a very well written and well thought out introduction – giving you the “do's and don'ts of mug cake baking… which yes – I needed at first. BUT – once you get started…it only gets easier! ;)And yes – I may have memorized a chocolate mug cake recipe where I don't really even need to measure the ingredients out anymore… I've made it that much… Ha! Sorry, but I don't believe for a moment that all of those reviews are legitimate. I bought the book from Amazon and have read the whole book, word for word, and have made, so far, 6 of the mug cakes. All terrible. All spongy and bland. I really wanted to like this, and I comnend the author for her work, but these cakes are not tasty. My husband agrees. I am not a novice in the kitchen and I know about baking, ingredients, methods, etc. I have to wonder if the 5 star reviews were somehow rigged or perhaps just friends of the author, not sure, but this is my honest review. All six of the cakes I've made give a terrible aftertaste as well.

This book was brought to my attention by a student in my summer ice cream and pastry making class. Excellent book. Fun and easy to use. Recipes can be modified. Who knew the whole world was making in cakes in mugs!?

Super cute gift idea. My friend loved it. Very simple and easy recipes to follow and cute pictures.

Easy to make and tastes great.

Book purchased with a 13 year old in mind. My son is able to prepare these mug cakes without adult assistance (easy to follow). Most recipes include ingredients already found in our cupboard.

Easy recipes

My wife and daughter love it.

I like some of the recipes, but many of them I will never try.
