To start off I won’t be speaking about the content of the book, only about physical appearance of the book. It came in really good condition even though it was labeled as used/very good. It has not been highlighted or marked in anyway so I believe it was really good for the price, and no complaints except that I received it in my mailbox along with another book that I purchased and the problem is that they were folded and bent in such way that they were able to fit in the mailbox which caused creases in the middle of both of the books.Just so y’all know it’s a paperback, everything inside is black and white.Hopefully it works well for my freshman chem class.

People have been conditioned to purchase real estate retail like they do other consumer goods. Investments should never be treated as a retail purchase! The advice to "Buy Low; Sell High" applies to any investment but this book also encourages a potential real estate investor to look for hidden value. Much of the advice in this book is also equally applicable to acquiring a property as one's primary residence and quite a bit of it can be applied to other investments. I recommend following this book with the multimedia course, "6 Steps to Becoming a Successful Real Estate Investor."

If your motivated about real estate I would say skip the first half of this book. The first have can be compared to a long motivational speech as to why real estate is profitable. The second half of the book he gets into some deals and some very basic formulas and information. This book isn't bad if your on the fence on whether to invest, but if your fully convinced real estate is great focus your time on another book with more content.

This was a good basic introduction on WHY real esate is a good investment...I don't personally think it should be 100% of a person's portfolio, so the reader needs to be very careful and not get carried away into thinking 'real esate is where it's at'! Just like the stock market, RE experiences cycles too.Having said that, this book was very educational in terms of getting me to think outside the box. I wish we had this book prior to selling our first home that we bought. Our mortgage would've been low (less than $1k) in So. CA(!) and I'm sure we would've been able to rent it out for double that! Had I read this book, we would've either rented it out...or fire the sleazy realtor that ripped us off! We learned from that mistake and by reading these types of books...hopefully we'll make better decisions in the future. For this education alone, I'd recommend you read this, take it w/ a grain of salt (in terms of striking it rich ONLY in RE) and use this info. to make the best decision for your situation.

This audio book was interesting but not very detailed. I got some info from this book but it was more like having cliff notes. A lot of general information but if you don't know what to do with that info then it's not very useful.

I probably would have given this 4 stars if it was $10. If you can find it for $10, buy it.Good: Has some content that made me think, was probably worth the $20 for me. Caveat, I buy almost every poker book anyway. Author has read Taleb. (Maybe I should say author quotes Taleb.) It is an entertaining read, but is entertaining what you want in a poker book?Bad: Is not about about "Exploitative Play" or "How to Manipulate your Opponents into Making Mistakes". I'm not sure it is really about "Live Poker" unless what he means is unschooled opponents. Padding that is almost sales-pitchy, like the marketing emails he sends out. Few example hands (30?). Lots of irrelevant/useless content. References to "databases" that he doesn't back up with the data. Shortish. I'm not sure I can think of anything in it that would make me want to recommend it to someone. (Actually some of the non-poker stuff in it might be something I recommend to people have problems in those areas, but is that what you are look for in a book with this title?) Could almost be a single chapter in one of those portmanteau books D&B seems to like if you stripped out all of the irrelevant stuff, but if it was I would have probably liked that chapter (keeping in mind that there would have been another 10 chapters from other authors).Summary: If you were thinking "finally, a book about exploitative play!" this isn't it. It is "Alexander Fitzgerald's poker book". If you were looking for the former, don't buy it. If the latter, well, it's only $20 and not terrible.

As this title suggest, this book teaches you how to "exploit" the 80% of players are simply playing their cards. Alex stresses that the tactics in this book is NOT for trying to exploit top pros or players playing GTO.I play in a league with 60 players and about 85% of them are in this category of "playing their cards" and also calling 3-bet Out of Position and then playing fit or fold on the flop. His strategies outlined in this book works PERFECTLY against this field and I have been crushing my league by following his blueprint.This book doesn't give you any charts to memorize, but rather teaches you how to think and take advantage of +eV spots and his tactics are backed by analytics. I find Alex's style very refreshing and the book is an easy read. The tactics seems simple on the surface but they WORK!!!I have actually purchased his training video "How to Think Like a Poker Player" and this book is a nice summary of that training video, but the videos go into much more detail and hand examples.I highly recommend this book

Really happy with my purchase of this book! I am a low stakes live tournament player predominantly, and this book is chock full of concepts and strategies that have made me a lot more confident that I am better prepared than almost all of the other players at the table. Some of the material in this book has helped me with online sit n go's as well (even though that is not the focus of this book). I am re-reading the book now, and I have lots of appreciation for Mr. Fitzgeralds writing style. The book is easy to read, and his explanations of concepts, that I had previously had a hard time grasping, have been explained in a way that makes the point crystal clear. I will say that playing according to the concepts put forth in this book has at times taken me far out of my comfort zone, but the results have been speaking for themselves. This is a great book, and has made me thirsty for more from this author! Thanks for the edge, Alex!

Anybody who is familiar with Alex knows he produces alot of content. Sometimes, its being thirty and trying to drink from a fire hose. Now, his content is relevant, and worthwhile, the problem, at least with his videos, is that it can take several viewings to really grasp it all.What is great about the book, is that it really does summarize and reinforce all of his content from at least the last year. This book puts it all in one place, and it a relatively easy reading format. Very few poker writing as what I would say "easy to read". Great book for anyone who wants to work on their game, 1/2, 1/3 and maybe 2/5. I think its also great for anyone who is familiar with Alex's work. It helps drive home the points he has delivered via youtube and oneouter podcasts.

I just finished reading Exploitative Play. One thing for sure - I need to read it again. I give it 4 stars overall (I'm a tough critic - 5 is very hard to get with me).By far the most essential section is after the main part of the book. Alex really opens up and shares ALL of his trials and tribulations about going professional. If you have thought of doing that yourself, or know someone who is, this is the section of the book to read. Worth the price alone. I haven't found anything close to this good of a brass tacks look at the life of a professional poker player, and what someone can expect out of it.That said, the sections on exploiting other players are really good - I'll be rereading them and using them all. Plus, the best thing about those sections is that he lays out the thought process around them. So you can find more places like them on your own. You'll have to do some work, but you'll reap the rewards too.Overall, it's also a fast and entertaining read. Nuts and bolts, solid advice, and it's relevant TODAY.Glad I picked it up. - B

I was really looking forward to reading this book after looking at the cover and reading the description. Like others who read it I expected the story to be told by the boy on the cover. Not the case. The story was told by a white youth. I was expecting the story to be told through the black boy's eyes, that I would be in his life with his family. I did like Titus and I loved his Uncle Amos but there wasn't enough about Moses.I thought this story was based on true events that happened in Ontario Canada and I expected more Canada as well. The writer only referred to the fact that we were in Canada a couple of times. The author described the unsavory characters well enough and started to describe the oil town but didn't go far enough. I felt like I was reading about any old west muddy town.This story left me wanting it to be told by another character and told better as I had anticipated.

I got this book free from Librarything Early Reviewers.I want to say two things up front. The first is that the book has a picture of a black boy on the cover, understandable since the story is about a race riot, but the picture lead me to believe that the protagonist was black and it was awhile before I realized he wasn't. The fact that his name was Titus (the type of name masters often gave their slaves) didn't really help. Perhaps I should have realized the protagonist's race sooner, but I wish it had been more clear from the beginning.The second thing is that I really hope my copy is an advance review copy (it doesn't say so on the cover) because the book refers to Titus's aunt as Sophie sometimes and Sadie other times. I hope this error was corrected in the final edition because it was very annoying.This was a decent enough story, and the twelve-year-old narrator's voice generally rang true (except for one small part where he talked about "disparaging remarks"), as did the atmosphere of social unrest that preceded the race riot. However -- I am trying to say this without giving anything away -- the riot seemed whitewashed to a certain extent. It seems like it could have and should have had more severe and far-reaching consequences than it did.That said, I'm sure many children in the target age group (especially boys) will find this an enjoyable read.

Curious about what happened to the slaves who ran away to seek freedom in Canada? Unfortunately, not everything went smoothly for all the runaways who made it to Canada. In this historical fiction novel for young people, author Ann Towell spins a tale based on a real race riot that took place in 1863.The story is narrated by Titus, a 12-year old boy who stows away in his older brother's wagon to the Canadian oil fields in Oil Springs, Ontario, around the time of the Civil War. Titus has been living with his Aunt Sadie and her husband, and he's had just about enough of his aunt's nagging. When his brother Lemuel plans to leave to go to his Uncle Amos' house at the oil fields, Titus figures it's time for him to have some adventures rather than go to school. On the road to the oil fields, they meet up with a stranger, John, whom Titus figures is bad news. "There didn't seem much about him that was honest and true," Titus tells the reader.With the cover image of a young black boy, I was convinced at first that the narrator, Titus, was black himself. It took me quite a few pages to figure out that the character we see on the cover is in fact not the narrator, Titus, but rather Moses, a young black boy that Titus befriends when he arrives at Oil Springs. Moses is the first Negro Titus has ever seen, and he describes his face as a "dark color like the beautiful walnut sideboard Aunt Sadie had in the dining room." Moses and Titus even start a business together, giving tours of the oil fields to curious folk from the cities.But the former slaves didn't leave all their troubles behind--some of the oilmen are trying to wreak havoc about the black people working on the oil wells, stirring up trouble by telling people that the blacks are taking jobs away from them by working for less pay. When their tactics don't work, they stoop even lower to rile up the crowds and drive the blacks out of town. Titus winds up an eyewitness to the violence. Can Titus save his friend Moses and his family and help bring the troublemakers to justice?We learn so little in school about our neighbors to the north that I am always glad to discover a historical novel that explores Canadian history, particularly as it intersects with our own past. Clearly racism didn't end at the Canadian border, despite the lack of a history of slavery in Canada. This novel offers an interesting perspective on the Civil War period from the other side of the border, and it's also a moving coming-of-age story about a young man who's forced to confront his fears in order to pursue what's right.

I have read several magazines and books about dairy goats prior to us actually buying the goats and this book has been by far the most detailed yet with a very easy reading style. The authors have a great knowledge of the subject based on what I have read previously and this will be a book we keep close at hand when we actually start the dairy. I have highlighted so much in the book it has earned its place as a key reference book.

Very happy with this book. Not done reading it yet, but, for people like us, who are pretty much starting from scratch in researching to see if raising dairy goats would be right for us (and, if we would be right for them) - it’s got lots of practical information that we need. Still, even though it doesn’t assume you know what you don’t know, it presents information assuming that you ARE an intelligent human being, just the same...no condescending tone towards those of us who are just getting our feet wet. Ya pretty much can’t go wrong with a Storey Guide to anything, and this is no exception.

as always, the Storey series Books/Guides, always nail it with just enough technical info and balanced with a bit of simplicity for saypeople like me and the case of never having had goats, into a format that I can relate to and understand. lots of great info. I boughta few other goat raising books along with this one, and I put them down because they just didn't 'flow' that well and I got bored trying to understand and they assume you know too much

Excellent resource for anyone considering keeping dairy goats. There is a lot of useful information, covering many aspects of raising goats. As with many Storey books, there are various views/options explored, not every one do I agree with or use. You will soon find, not every goat is the same, nor every goat keeper's solution to a problem. Obviously there are some situations where only one solution is the best. This is one of the books we read when we started our herd 6 years ago and have kept it for reference, while letting other books go. We referenced it often, in the early years. After getting this book, my best advice for a new goat keeper, find a goat owner mentor you can call. One book can never cover all the joys and troubles you will have in keeping goats. A mentor is indispensable because not all the answers are contained in any one book nor do all veterinarians deal with livestock (goats/sheep in particular).

This book has good information. However, it does not give as much as I feel it should. I have read other books on other farm animals such as cows pigs chickens etc. when I look at a guide into a topic like this I expect complete information. I felt like for almost every situation the author refers you to talk, visit or call a veterinarian. As a farmer you cannot afford to call a veterinarian for every animal all year long. For such things as dewarming options the author suggests taking samples twice a year from each animal to a veterinarian to be analyzed. For very many elements it suggests a veterinarian. I felt like it also made it sound like it was quite complicated to keep goats. It did not seem to have as much of a "you can do this" field. For such things as breeding it did not actually go into suggestions on how to breed successfully it simply stated it more as being very complicated and needing to be left to the experts. Most of the book also was not true instructions. It gave scenarios or opinions that went like "some people do it like this other people do the opposite way you'll have to decide for yourself" this was a frequent occurrence in the book. lt was a little too focused on being politically correct to really give good sound instruction to the reader. I felt like I was glad I have read so many other books on other animals to help me Fill in the gaps on goats.

I am a novice to the goat world and for now owning my own goats is just a dream. I tell my sister, who does own goats, that I am living her world vicariously through books. (See missouridairygoats (dot com) or minimilkcows (dot com) if you want to be inspired by my sister's cute farm.)I am loving this book! It's clear, concise, well organized, & filled with worthwhile information. I have spent some time milking and caring for goats, but there is so much to learn. This book is a great starting point for a novice like me. I wish there were color pictures, it is all black and white, but aside from that this is a great book. It's also an enjoyable read and I would think even the experienced goat owner would want to own this book even if it's just for reference. A good book for the owner and the dreamer!

Thanks to the information we learned in this book, we were able to develop housing, pastures and learn what we need for milking prior to getting two Nigerian Dwarf Dairy doe kids. Very informational and highly recommended!
