In this biography, author John Bankston has managed to make the rather sexy career of actress Alyssa Milano sound squeaky-clean. Even while referencing interviews in Maxim and Stuff magazines, Bankston has done quite a bit to clean up Milano's image. While useful for it's intended purpose, which I assume is Elementary age kids doing a book report, this is not an in-depth study. I doubt anyone expects it to be.Interestingly, though other books in this series include a complete filmography, Milano's is "selected."Also, I was not aware that Milano was running a big campaign to stop celebrity internet porn and I question that information being included in a book geared towards children.As always, an extra 1/2 star to any book that references Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which this does twice.

I didn't buy this book on amazon.com, and i dont know if it's exactly the same (since there isn't even a picture), but this is my review for the copy i have:I think anyone who likes Alyssa Milano would like this. I'm a huge fan of hers, and basically, everything you find on Amazon.com about Alyssa Milano is good. It was very informing, interesting and fun!

As associate professor and program director at New England College in New Hampshire, Henning coordinates the master’s of higher education administration and doctorate of education programs. He has served as president of ACPA―College Student Educators International as well as on the board of directors and executive committee of the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS). Henning holds a doctor of philosophy degree in education leadership and policy studies and a master of arts degree in sociology, both from the University of New Hampshire, as well as a master of arts degree in college and university administration and a bachelor of science degree in psychology and sociology from Michigan State University.

A good resource for students learning first about assessment in Student Affairs. The one thing I would like is better examples of what typical assessment formats look like and sound like. Some may know about assessment in K-12 education, like myself, but I don't know enough about student affairs assessment for that to translate very well. I was glued to this book for my entire assessment course I would like more resources in this book as far as where we can look to expand on learning more about assessment

This book provides a thorough grounding in the theory of assessment. The focus is on Student Affairs, but most of the concepts are generalizable. There are also some very practical chapters, like writing outcomes. I would like to make that chapter required reading for everyone on my campus. The book is dense, but full of good information.

Henning is actually my professor so I may be biased but this book is well written for a textbook and there are "real life" examples for everything he talks about which really helps with comprehending the material.

Very disappointed in this quality of this. I bought it NEW and some of the binding is already ripping from the first use upon me opening the book, so I am having to balance pages already.I usually buy used where I expect flaws here and there, but was not expecting a new book to have flaws upon opening it for the first time.

I was more hoping this would be a “how to” book. I learn by doing and this isn’t exactly a guide. It tells you what columns, rows, and cells are and what things you can put in the function bar, but no examples of anything are given. I thumbed through it, but without being able to experiment with different things, it honestly wasn’t a great help to me.

This slim book is really of no use, it doesn't even cover essential functions like rounding, and it says nothing about calculating a spreadsheet. Look elsewhere.

This was very helpful for someone with no excel experience. I am now able to understand the basic principles of excel.

This is one of the few textbooks I decided to keep laying around after I finished school.I have never had to pull it out, but that is probably because I already remember much about it.Nothing is SECURE online. There are just hurtles to jump through, smoke screens to pass through, and firewalls to laugh at.

My class is ending and I really enjoyed this book. The chapter flow smoothly and are easy to read. The information feels like its being fed to me in perfectly manageable bites at a time. Its non-intimidating and the font size isn't too small. The 'real world' examples make the chapters more interesting as it gives example of how the upcoming information relates to things happening in the here and now. After seeing the price they wanted down at the bookstore, it was a no-brainer to make my purchase of this used book from Amazon. You will enjoy this book. BTW, I got an A in my intro cyber security class and I believe the way the book is constructed and written helped make that possible.

Really enjoying reading this book, the scenarios and examples are great for explaining concepts. Answers in the back for the questions in order to do study review would be excellent.

Always been a fan of Tera and even met her at the AVN porn awards in Vegas many years ago. She was super nice and sweet to me...and all her fans. This book is a great fun read that chronicles her life starting back with her volatile abuse from her mother during her childhood....her wildchild party girl youth as a teen model, and her introduction to nude modeling and porn. Also covers her fixation with "rocker types" and her marriage to a rock musician. This book has lots of cool pics and the book cover actually contains a mini poster. And surprisingly so of the pics in the book have light nudity (showing her butt and tits) Being a black man who also loves asians, and who loves asians in porn even more...this was a fun read and great insight into her crazy drug fueled life that covers everything to her bad business deals, her nervous breakdown, her admittance to a psyche ward and her reinventing her career and creating a muti-million Dollar business! Reading between the lines....i strongly suspect Tera might be a little racist as she NEVER worked with black talent or other minorities. She never even mentioned being attracted to other asians or even dating asian men. She is totally a hard core "europhile" (attracted and fixated with only white male rocker-biker types) But despite my minor biased complaints, i highly recommend this book. Overall..this is a good, fun and interesting porn bio!

I've ordered this book from Amazon and received it in a fair amount of time. I have literally 40 books in my library that I wanted to get to but I kept finding myself drawn to reading this one.I finished it in less than 3 days.I enjoyed the writing style and it was good to read behind the scenes experiences from Linda Ann.. What I didn't like was the minimal acceptance of accountability on Tera's behalf. I understand that women will always fault the man, no matter what and that women stick together with each other before they take up for a man.. I just didn't like how she threw Evan under the bus at the end. It's not like she didn't achieve a great life without his help. He seems to be very instrumental in her success and loving her during a time where she made it very hard to. I think her selfishness really showed at the end.For that reason I give it 4 stars. Definitely enjoyable read.

This was a fun read and gives a lot of insight into the porn industry. Parts of the book were written badly and makes you wonder where the editor was when this book was being made. I love the fact that Tera is a bookworm. One thing that stands out about this book is that essentially the entire second half of the book is dedicated to her (then) husband and then at the end of the book there is a small section where you find out that they are not even together anymore. And she dedicated an entire chapter to when she lost her dog. I'm a dog lover as well but that's a little too much. It was nice to read about her patching things up with her mother.

Thoroughly enjoyed the book, the highs and lows. It introduces you to Tera the pornstar and on the other hand Linda the wife, sister, daughter etc. I enjoyed how she equally devoted time to both dimensions of the business and her personal life. It lives you reflecting on your own life and choices. She didnt take the book as a chance to get back at her haters. Even those who crossed her path she still treats them with respect. Her ex husband however didnt do the same.

Tara Patrick did an absolutely phenomenal job writing this book, she went in depth with her story and left everything out on the table. Once I started the first page I was hooked and couldn’t put it down til the very last page and even after the book was over I found myself wanting more and missing the story I’ve read this book multiple times since my purchase and continue to love it each time more

What I loved about Tera's book is her strength. After all her ups and downs....she is a big enough person at this stage in her life to notice her faults....and to also just realize that she's grown and changed course as a woman. It happens to the best of us...many marriages & life experiences don't last forever....that's "life"... but she handled this change with strength, dignity, confidence and grace. She grew from it.....that right there, is what makes a woman so amazing! Great book Tera, you should be so proud!

A folk tale has been described as a short story that comes from oral tradition. Folk tales often deal with everyday life and characters are animals with human characteristics. The first publication of Ukrainian oral folklore was at the beginning of the 19th century; by the 20th century, an impressive number of folkloric collections and studies were produced in Western Ukraine. Ivan Franko wrote numerous articles on folk oral traditions and a six-volume edition of Ukrainian proverbs. During this period, Volodymyr Hnatiuk was the most productive ethnographer and folklorist. One caveat/point of correction regarding the back cover which states, in part: "This collection celebrates the great story-telling (sic) tradition of the (sic) Ukraine." This book is copyrighted 1996; Ukraine gained independence on August 24, 1991. Reference to Ukraine should correctly have been made to "Ukraine" (one word) and not to "the Ukraine" (two words).The phrase "the Ukraine" should read as one word "Ukraine." This error may take decades to correct, but a public platform such as this (with its vast audience) is ideal for the edification of people, which is why I point it out here.An explanation appeared in Arnold Berke's article "Ukrainian Dawn," Historic Preservation, March/April, 1993, pp. 31-32:"Ukraine is a new country but an old nation--a fact often lost on foreigners, who remain largely ignorant of this land of fifty-two million people, Europe's second largest in area after Russia. Ukraine to them has always been "the" Ukraine--no more than a region of its powerful northern neighbor, Russia--and Ukrainian culture a mere variation on the Russian national theme. Russians used to call Ukraine "Little Russia," a sobriquet that Tchaikovsky`s Second Symphony earned for its use of Ukrainian folk themes. Even the Ukrainian language was downgraded as a dialect of Russian, although Ukrainian differs from Russian as much as does Polish."The nineteen Ukrainian folk tales within the 160 pages of Ukrainian Folk-tales are retold in an engaging/enthralling manner by Christina Oparenko, who originally heard them from her Ukrainian grandmother. Oparenko relates that in ancient times, since people often could neither read nor afford to buy books, the learning process often took place by means of repetition--and, it was thus that folktales developed. Folktales weren't only used to amuse children, they were used to help people remember bits of history, to explain why people behaved in certain ways, to give rules for living in a community, or to include other information that the storyteller thought should be passed on.Following the engaging, educational Ukrainian folktales, is a Notes section. Since the first folktale is entitled, The Wise Tsarina, the first note aptly references the word "Tsarina"--it states, rightly so, that there were no Tsars in Ukraine. Oparenko further states: "Originally it (Ukraine) was ruled by princes and although there were a couple of kings in the Ukrainian provinces of Halych and Volhyn (Galicia and Volhinia [Volhynia]) this was not a form of government that the Ukrainian people liked. The idea of a Tsar only came to Ukraine once it had been taken over by Russia in the eighteenth century. However, I have kept the name of Tsar in some of these stories partly because that is how the stories came to me and partly because it adds a rather more exotic feel to them."A second note in the book explains the word Rushnik (in Ukrainian rushnyk). A rushnyk (Ukrainian plural is rushnyky) is a ritual cloth. As The Ukrainian Museum in NYC states on its website: "rushnyky (ritual cloths). The ritual cloths have a long history in the Ukrainian folk art tradition, dating back to pagan times. These textiles, as well as their designs are deeply symbolic. While most of the symbolism and magic surrounding their meaning has been lost with time, nevertheless enough information has been passed down through the centuries for people to still utilize rushnyky even today in various religious ceremonies and passage of life rituals."The final explanation in the Notes section describes stoves since several of the stories mention them. In addition to the explanation given in the book, please note that a large clay oven is called in Ukrainian a pich; and, above an indoor clay oven was a sleeping area, an oven-bed.Following the Notes section, the last entry in the book is entitled Recipes, and here we find several recipes for foods mentioned in Ukrainian Folk-tales; a nice touch is that each of the recipes includes the title of a folktale so that the reader may refer to it. These recipes are written to an audience of young people, and rightly so, since the reading level recommended for this book is ages 9-12. Recipes include: pancakes ("called nalysnyky in Ukrainian"; see note in paragraph below), filling for pancakes, bortsch (borshch), varenyky ("these are a bit like ravioli"), kissel/kysil pudding, and bread.Some personal notes: In her book, Traditional Ukrainian Cookery, author Savella Stechishin explains that the Ukrainian name for simple griddle cakes is 'mlyntsi'--the name refers to plain and yeast-raised cakes. "The richer, wafer-thin cakes that are filled, then rolled, folded or layered are called 'nalysnyky.' There is a clear distinction between the two, both in the method of preparation and in the finished product. The dainty and elegant nalysnyky have always been a great favorite in Ukrainian homes." (Savella Stechishin was born in Ukraine. A graduate in home economics from the University of Saskatchewan, she worked as a home economist for women's services of the university, lecturing to women's groups in the field of foods. During the war, she wrote articles on food and nutrition for Ukrainian language papers in Canada on behalf of the Consumer Informtion Service, Ottawa. She's the author of a book on Ukrainian embroideries, a pioneer of the Ukrainian Women's Association of Canada, which she headed for many years, and was a columnist in the Ukrainian Voice, Winnipeg at the time of publication of her outstanding book, Traditional Ukrainian Cookery, which is sold on Amazon.)The stories are engaging, written with a larger font, and in a style sure to appeal to young readers.
