Awesome book! Got one for a friend's son and I'm going to get one for myself even though I know a lot about architecture. This is a book for all ages and all levels.

It is much smaller in person. Kind of a mini book, but the content is very cool.

This book was purchased as a gift. It looked interesting.

Fun book for kids.

This is a nice little book...a great gift for any artistic teenager...particularly boys...

Very pleased

What does a rich business man and a struggling college student have incommon. You would think nothing at all but Opposition by Jane Henryproved me wrong.Ms Henry has woven her magic once again with twopeople from vastly different worlds who are both damaged in some way.Liam Alexander is the most arrogant man Cora has ever met. From themoment he steps into the coffee shop where she works her life changesforever.Cora has the weight of the world on her young shoulders and thelast thing she needs is a rude jerk to deal with. She thought that she hadseen the last of him but fate intervened when she found herself acrossthe knees of a masked stranger at the masquerade night at Club Verge.Herfirst forage into the club did not turn out as she expected. All she wantedwas to feel and have a little fun.Unfortunately for Cora, she runs out ofthe frying pan and into the fire and is rescued by Liam.Liam offers Coraa proposition she just can't refuse. Is he the devil or a angel. Were theyheaded for disaster.I loved Cara feisty spirit and dedication. The ice around her heart slowlymelted as Liam's kindness emerged. She grew to love his control anddominance, she gifted him with her submission.I loved how Liam remainedin charge but still encouraged Cora follow her convictions. This book will take your breath away and set you on fire. Its well balancedand flows smoothly with believable characters that you can't help fallingin love with. This book resonated within me and Ms Henry created a worldin which I was able to immerse myself and live out my own fantasies fora few short hours.

Liam and Cora are like fire and gasoline and I love it. She tells him like it is and ticks Liam off. He in turn takes no grief and gives Cora what she needs. The heat between them is great and gets you wishing you were Cora.

This the newest book in the Club Verge books, involving the best sex club in Manhattan. I've loved every one of these books, and am always excited to see what Jane Henry is going to do next. I almost always love her heroes and heroines, even when the Domly types are being uber-Domly. However, I can't really say that about Liam.Cora is a college student who works 2 jobs and goes to college. And oh yeah, she's also guardian to her two younger siblings. She never has a second to herself and she just can't get ahead. If it's not one thing, it's another. And today, it's the jerkweed who was all condescending and rude to her and the stuff that the book store sells. Which includes erotic stories written by two of her friends. However, she manages to dust herself off so that she can go to work at her second job, bartender at Club Verge.Liam hates poor service, and so when he stopped to get a cup of coffee and found the woman at the store on the phone to her boyfriend, he was nasty to her. You see, Liam is uber rich and a Dom, and no one treats him with disrespect or says no to him. He felt that Cora, the woman behind the bar, was disrespectful. So when he sees her behind the bar at Verge, and is able to hide his identity from her because it was a Masquerade, he just wants to get to know her better.I spent a lot of time in this book not really liking Liam a lot. He's really cold and calculating, and just a serious jerk. I really don't like the way that he treats people in general, nor the way that he treats service staff. I do eventually come to like him, but he's definitely not my favorite of Jane Henry's guys. All that being said, I do think that he's fairly good for Cora. He gives her a place where she can lay down her worries and burdens and just let someone else handle everything. For someone who has had to be so in control, like Cora, that has to be a relief.I really like Cora. I admire her grit and determination. She also is going to fight for what she believes, no matter what. I truly respect her for stepping up and taking care of her sibs. There was only one thing that I was curious about that didn't get answered, and that's Bailey's teacher who seemed to know something that he shouldn't, and was trying to lecture Cora. I might've liked to see something more from that.

Opposition is a combination Cinderella/Beauty and the Beast tale with likable characters, a straightforward plot, and steamy sex scenes.Cora is a college student working two jobs to keep her family together. She lives in the worst part of New York City, in a rundown apartment with her sister and her brother. She successfully fought to keep custody of her siblings after her mother died of an overdose and lives as frugally as possible.Enter CEO Liam, a big impatient man, who snaps at her while she’s at work in the coffee shop. She gives him what for but is pleased when he leaves her a big tip. But she sure doesn’t want anything more to do with him. Too bad, because while she’s working as a bartender at the BDSM Club Verge, he shows up again. After some interplay, where he saves her life, he offers an opportunity: for a substantial amount of money, she agrees to be his submissive for eight weeks. At first she refuses, but when she realizes the rent is overdue, she agrees to his proposal. The contract includes a clause that neither one of them will fall in love. But six weeks into the contract, a fire leaves Cora’s family homeless and they move in with Liam. By then, both are feeling a strong attraction toward the other-but that damn clause stands in the way.Can these two mismatched workaholics find a way around the written contract to develop a real relationship?I liked both the main characters-both were honest, hardworking people, and most of the secondary characters were enjoyable as well. I could only picture Jake the lawyers as a clone of the lawyer in Pretty Woman-and the two were alike in more than looks.Overall an enjoyable light read, that can keep the reader thoroughly entertained.

...but it was invaluable for me in understanding the general principles of econometrics for my Master's level econometrics course. I consider myself to be just "okay" when it comes to statistics, and even though I had a semester of Master's level statistics prior to taking my econometrics course, I found myself as lost as ever when trying to read a higher level econometrics textbook that supposedly taught at an introductory level. Enter "Basic Econometrics", and my eyes were slowly opened to the beauty of statistics. Overall, I appreciate Gujarati's simple English approach, while remaining generally rigorous in overall coverage.I would also recommend purchasing this international edition to save yourself some hard earned money.

I feels this edition is the best so far.

good book to learn.

Great condition.

Good book :)

I learn econometrics with this book, I buy for reference and It is really nice explanations, descriptions and econometric excercises

This book is awful. Takes advantage of people that are studying with the Gujarati text book. Will not help you study. It contains no useful information...Don't buy it!!!

Einstein and the Rabbi: Searching for the Soul, by Naomi Levy

Review

“Drawing on poignant personal stories, Jewish life and traditions, and a spiritual letter from Einstein to a grieving father, Naomi Levy’s book outlines an inspiring guide on how to live a meaningful and connected life.” ―Alan Lightman, author of Einstein’s Dreams“Rabbi Naomi Levy shares her loving spirit, her inspirational stories of Einstein and the rabbi whose grief he sought to assuage, and her lessons on hearing the voice of your soul. This remarkable book spoke to me as I am sure it will speak to you.” ―Susan Cain, author of Quiet“It is the task of the rabbi to articulate the wisdom and power of the Jewish religion in all its profundity, mystery, and earthy relevance. Naomi Levy performs the task spectacularly; she speaks from deep within the Jewish soul and gives the spiritual gifts of Judaism not only to Jews but to the world at large. It is difficult to overestimate her contribution. Einstein and the Rabbi is worthy of the matriarchs from whom originated the blessing of Jewish womanhood and who continue, through such as her, to bless it still." ―Marianne Williamson, author of A Return to Love and Everyday Grace“[Levy] is a gifted storyteller―courageous, daring, witty and wise…. She brings not only eloquence and wisdom but also a wry sense of humor and the deepest compassion to her writing. Yet [Einstein and the Rabbi] achieves something even more exalted, an intimate revelation that rings with courage and authenticity. The reader surely will come away from Levy’s latest book with that sense of spiritual fullness she seeks to impart in everything she does.” ―Jewish Journal“[Levy's] wisdom and openness and wondrous spirit ripple through the pages of her engaging new book.” ―The Jerusalem Post"Engaging...genuinely moving." ―Publishers Weekly“Everyone needs to read this book. It is a book for the times we live in now...capturing the human spirit through historic journeys, present-day gestures of kindness, and understanding. Naomi Levy writes with a clear, easy style that allows us to fall into her narrative, bearing witness to the soul life.” ―Julianna Margulies, actor/producer“With keen insight, an open heart, and the graceful, accessible wisdom for which she is widely known, Rabbi Naomi Levy has written a book that will be a balm and a provocation for all who read it. It made me cry. It made me think. To read it is to be gently guided into a deeper place.” ―Dani Shapiro, author of Devotion and Hourglass“Throughout, Levy comes off as a trustworthy guide, with just the right leavening (or perhaps unleavening) of humor and endless compassion.” ―Kirkus Reviews“Spiritual seekers of any faith should find guidance and comfort in these intricately woven stories of love, loss, suffering, and success.” ―Library Journal"Part candid and moving memoir, part accounting of an inspiring spiritual quest. This unusual volume is also a page-turner." ―Wendy Mogel, Ph.D., author of The Blessing of a Skinned Knee"Do not miss this unique work combining wisdom, inspiration, a mystery about the world's greatest scientist, and a modern search for the soul. The combination will enchant your mind and make your spirit sing." ―Rabbi David Wolpe, author of David: The Divided Heart and Making Loss Matter: Creating Meaning in Difficult Times"Naomi Levy examines life's polarities: birth and death, love and loss, faith and doubt. With keen insight, she shows how each duality is connected by the vital force we call 'the soul.' This is a lovely, tender book that will illuminate and inspire." ―Jerome Groopman, Recanati Professor at Harvard University and author of The Anatomy of Hope“Naomi Levy writes from my heart. She brings together my Judaism and my social science and my current spiritual path of love.” ―Ram Dass“Read about Naomi Levy's spiritual journey at the risk of having her take you deeper into yourself. Einstein and the Rabbi takes you on the journey of journeys.” ―Norman Lear“What is the soul?’ This question has been on the tips of the tongues of seekers, saints and prophets from the beginning of time. ‘Are there words to describe the ineffable?’ This question has been on the tips of the pens of poets across the ages and the continents. Rabbi Naomi Levy takes on these questions in Einstein and the Rabbi, and she does so with humility, mastery, and poetry in a book that reads like mystery novel. I couldn’t put it down.” ―Elizabeth Lesser, author of Broken Open and Marrow, and cofounder of Omega Institute"Rabbi Naomi Levy has done something extraordinary. Inspired by one of the most famous letters written by Einstein, she has, through meticulous research uncovered the utterly unexpected background to Einstein’s letter, words written to a saintly rabbi who had just undergone the worst suffering a parent can experience. Naomi Levy, who decades earlier had undergone the worst suffering a child can experience, has united the words of Einstein, the story of Rabbi Robert Marcus, and of herself and her own father in a way that makes us all realize that the soul truly can see what eyes cannot. With Naomi Levy as our guide we too can learn to see with our souls, and thereby bless the lives of those around us and our own lives as well." ―Rabbi Joseph Telushkin, author of Jewish Literacy, Rebbe, and Words that Hurt, Words that Heal"Levy offers us a blessing―which indeed comes true as one travels through her luminous book: 'I am praying that something sacred will happen to you. Something unexpected. A turning. An awakening.' And it does; all of that and more." ―Abigail Pogrebin, author of My Jewish Year and Stars of David“In these bewildering and often implausible times, Naomi Levy’s book provides a vital and necessary antidote. Without stooping to easy remedies or spiritual jargon and drawing on centuries of Jewish thought, Levy shows us a soulful way to navigate a materialist world. Einstein and the Rabbi is a heartwarming and lucid reflection on balancing your life and schooling your heart.” ―Daphne Merkin, author of This Close to Happy: A Reckoning with Depression“A great read both for those who love the science of Einstein and the soul of the Zohar. The history of Einstein’s correspondence with Rabbi Marcus is fascinating and brings together science and soul.” ―Alan Dershowitz, author of Taking the Stand: My Life in the Law “Naomi Levy weaves together a series of stories from her perspective as a rabbi, her personal journey through illness, and a remarkable search for a letter to Einstein that results in describing the indescribable―the nature of our souls.” ―Stephen Tobolowsky, actor and author of My Adventures with God and The Dangerous Animals Club"You will be moved by Levy's ability to weave personal memoir and philosophical discourse so accessibly and emotionally." ―Tom Allon, Huffington Post

Einstein and the Rabbi, by Naomi Levy, is on one level a mystery about a letter that Albert Einstein wrote to a grieving Rabbi; and it is on an another level about the mysteries about the soul. The book explains the connections we all have. However, this book is really about love: the author’s love for her family, especially her husband, Rob. However, her love spreads out to encompass the reader. As you read the book, you feel her invitation to the reader to live more fulfilling lives by tapping into the reader’s soul. She wants the reader to reach his or her potential in love, work, and parenting. She wants us to find our calling. This book is not mere New Age theology; rather Rabbi Levy taps into ancient Jewish texts and thought to illuminate how the soul can be tapped into to create a more meaningful and successful life. Furthermore, she wants us to tap into our pain to find our path. Her story about the biologist is a great example. Some stories will make you cringe. It was painful to read about the woman who killed a man while she was reaching for her phone. Other stories will make you laugh. I could not help laughing at the story about how she and her husband forgot that they left her car at her in-laws. The book is an easy read. I read the book over three evenings before going to bed. So, if you read the book quickly to find out what prompted Einstein to write a letter to Rabbi Marcus; I would recommend that you keep the book at your bedside. Much of the book were Rabbi Levy’s sermons to her congregation. I am fortunate to attend her services. I can tell you that each sermon caused the congregation to think and reflect. In fact, one sermon caused me to change my life. You can read it in “Pregnant Forever.” Each chapter is a world in itself, and I would recommend you picking up the book and read or reread a chapter that reflects your concerns at the moment. Highly recommended.

I love this book. I agree it was about the impact of Einstein's words to a man the author searched to find only to be further inspired by his story is the point of the title. The author's story is truly one of great challenge and inspiration. When she speaks of the soul it touched my heart. I often forget to hear what the soul wants by going within or in a small miracles I forget to be grateful for each day. Her words are a reminder that there is purpose in searching for our souls. Like her other books, I am again inspired.

Before I was through the first chapter of Rabbi Levy's Einstein and the Rabbi, the book became my traveling companion. It went with me on every errand, doctor's appointment and church. I completed reading the book in three days. I plan on having a women's reading group when the paperback becomes available in September.Rabbi Levy has touched the core of what it means to be human and made in the image and likeness of God in language "others can understand." Bless her for sharing her story and helping others to enter into the mystery of the Soul. It is a book I will use as a resource in classes at St Thomas University. I am currently reading Levy's To Start Again and just finished reading Hope Will Find You. I found a contemporary author who shines light in the darkness in a world that is full of chaos and dualism.

Rabbi Naomi Levy is such a gentle warrior who leads the reader to realms of honest confrontation of life and death issues. Be prepared to be touched and transformed.

What an amazing book, the story takes you on a journey within your own soul, spirituality and spirit. I found myself connecting, crying, feeling proud and most of all being inspired. Rabbi Levy is a gifted writer and story teller who inspires us to reach deep to find meaning. Thank you leading me and all readers on this powerful journey

Rabbi Levy's writing touches the soul. She has a talent for stirring the spirit through her accessible, unpretentious yet profound style that takes us places we didn't expect. Her openness inspires our own and invites us to nurture our spiritual lives. I loved this book and wholeheartedly recommend it.

I love the book. Rabbi Levy writes beautifully. This is her best so farI understood so much more about our connection of the souls who have left us and how fortunate we are to be able to connect.I am so amazed at Rabbi Marcus and all the good that he did even having his own sorrow.Einstein was a genius and we are so lucky to have had and still have such brilliant Jewish peopleThank youEthel Rosen Fagenson

For a long time now I've felt a distance from anything spiritual, as if a coldness and hardness exists in my soul. This book has reawakened the desire in my life to seek & learn, and grow closer to God. Thank you Rabbi for sharing powerful lessons and stories that resonate and inspire.

I FOUND THIS BOOK TO BE QUITE INFORMATIVE ESPECIALLY FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE FAIRLY NEW TO RACQUET SPORTS MANY OF THE EXERCISES I HAVE ALREADY USED, BUT, THERE ISNT A LOT OF BOOKS OUT THERE FOR PEOPLE THAT FOCUS ON SQUASH OR RACQUETBALL WHEN IT COMES TO TRAINING AND KEEPING FIT. ITS WORTH A READ, AND, SHOULD HELP YOUR GAME ESPECIALLY IF YOU DONT KNOW WHERE TO START

Did not care for this book. It appeared to contain only 2 pages that pertained to racquetball training, the rest of the content was cut and paste from another book. I found much better training information for free with a Google search.

There are no spaces in the text, and the modern English is not in a column next to the old English. The printed version has the modern English on the page next to the old English. I don't see anyplace where I can "return" the e-book.

If you are just starting to read Shakespeare on your own, and want a good starting point, look no further than this Folger Library treatment of his great political drama. It was the Folger edition of "Julius Caesar" that grabbed me back in the ninth grade, when I was failing all my classes and hardly hitting my assigned reading. This has it all: Indelible characters, hard-hitting action scenes, tricky "what-would-you-do" moments, and text that you can grasp readily thanks to the Folger practice of laying out the tricky parts on the opposite page. Guess what: There aren't so many "tricky parts" in "Julius Caesar" as you might expect from reading "Hamlet" or even "Midsummer Night's Dream."There are many, many great lines, some quite famous and instantly recognizable to anyone with a bit of cultural awareness. "Beware the ides of March!' "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,/But in ourselves..." "Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look." "...it was Greek to me." "Cowards die many times before their deaths;/The valiant never taste of death but once..." And that's just in the first two acts. The great speech everyone remembers, the one which begins "Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears," is especially powerful when read in context. It is delivered by the play's most fascinating character, Mark Antony. At this point in the play, the title character is [Big Spoiler Coming] terminally indisposed, and most of the people who have been doing the talking are fine with this. Then Mark Antony comes on stage, and with that line, and the next several that follow, he effects a tremendous turnabout in the storyline, among the most memorable ever devised. It's a riveting, passionate, and snarkishly satirical scene, as the cynical-yet-somehow-admirable Mark Antony winds up a crowd of passive Romans into complete bloodlust. The scenes are sharp like that throughout, something that can't always be said of Shakespeare. He's often ambiguous, but seldom as effectively as here. The dilemma of Brutus, who sees a man whose power is going to his head, is one we can relate to, as we see that side of Caesar, too, but is the prescribed cure better than the sickness, or is Brutus just the wrong physician? We get one unalloyed villain in Cassius, whose very name is snakelike and who seems to operate on Brutus like a proto-Iago, but different readers will come away with different perspectives on his plotting.Probably written in 1599, just as Shakespeare was entering his decade of greatest accomplishment, "Julius Caesar" may be with "Romeo & Juliet" and "MacBeth" the safest bet for a high-school or junior-high-school English teacher. I can't think of an easier play of Shakespeare's to read, or maybe even enjoy. Add to that the levels of deception, subtle characterization, and satirical realpolitik to be discovered, and you have a play that satisfies as much as it draws you in.

How can one describe Shakespeare's plays? They're fabulous and for that reason I purchased this book for my sophomores who struggle with the wording. This will be a big help as they read the play. I had to laugh. Shakespeare has never written a "Predictable" play. Yes, there are omens that foreshadow what is to come but the reader never knows how or when it will happen. This is a very helpful book that transcribes Shakespeare's play in modern language.

I have a pretty typical son except that he is homeschooled. Sourcebooks' Macbeth left my son with a deep understanding of Shakespeare and his style of writing; so much so that he asked for another for Christmas - and yes - now he is enjoying "Julius Ceasar" for his own sake! If you or your child has to read a Shakespeare book for whatever reason, make sure you either use or have for reference the Sourcebooks version - they explain words and phrases in terms of their meaning at the time - sentence by sentence. The CD-Rom, which comes with it, allows you to hear sections you may be struggling with as they were performed in famous Shakespeare productions. Also, just FYI, out of several Macbeth movies, we very much liked the BBC version: extremely well performed, with beautiful Scottish settings and realistic costumes (we rented through Netflix).

I absolutely love the recording! It matches perfectly the text I use in my classroom and adds so much to instruction! The students enjoy the natural sounding voices because they don't sound as if they are JUST reading. I highly recommend this product.

This is an easy to read edition of the text in a great Kindle version. There isn't much in the way of secondary material--just a well-rendered text. A tremendous bargain at the price!

I like Shakespeare, but find his language hard to decipher at times. Standard texts have footnotes to help you to understand how he uses certain words, but after looking up a few dozen of these, I find myself starting to lose the thread of the story line. The "Shakespeare Made Easy" approach has been a godsend for me. Now, whenever I run into a difficult passage, I can glance over to the other side of the book and read the same passage in plain English. A light bulb blinks on, and I say, "Aha! That's what this means!" Unfamiliar words are instantly translated for me as I see them in the context of a passage which I now understand fully. I've read Julius Caesar three or four times previously, but never so fluidly and with such enjoyment and understanding as I just did with the help of the "Shakespeare Made Easy" book.

I purchased this with the other titles ("Hamlet," "Macbeth," and "Romeo & Juliet" to help my remedial English students (which included a bunch of ESLL students) to understand Shakespeare. I liked that the actual text was included with the manga style; however, some scenes are not included, and a cast of characters would've been nice to have, especially for students who are unfamiliar with the play in the first place. Overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase. Oh, and my students all left remedial English with a clear understanding of Shakespeare's tragedies. :)

I'm a fan of Asian ink, especially Japanese art. Beautiful pictures of the tattoos. Really interesting to read about the style of it's body art from another culture and country.

It appears to be the sad fate of English-language books on the Japanese tattoo that they so rarely combine all the desired publishing strengths--first-rate photography, unique insights, disciplined writing, and careful documentation--in a single volume. And this is disappointingly the case with Takahiro Kitamura's "Bushido: Legacies of the Japanese Tattoo." The book includes, as previous reviewers have noted, stunningly beautiful photographs, and it benefits mightily from the personal access of Kitamura (who tattoos as the artist Horitaka) to modern practitioners of the Japanese tattoo. However, it is also the case that only a minute percentage of the book's illustrations are captioned and explained, the text keeps shifting perspective and voice, and the glossaries and index are inadequate. As Kitamura has proved in both "Bushido" and his "Tattoos of the Floating World," the Japanese tattoo deserves to be regarded as a serious art form. It also deserves to be presented to the public by mainline art publishers who employ the best designers and the best color separation technology. To achieve this, the time has come for talented and passionate specialists like Kitamura to consider teaming with professional art writers who flourish outside the confines of the tightly-knit tattoo community.

This is a book of one families tattoos. Neat to thumb thru. I like it. I both admire the art and the Bushido culture of skin art. I don't even have a tattoo.

This book has some of the nicest tatt's that I have ever seen. The book lives up to it's reputation as one of the best Japanese tattoo books. I am gifting this book to my tattoo artist, he studies Japanese artwork and tattoo's and has a sweet looking back-tatt (golden dragon) by one of the industry's most notable artistI'm looking forward to giving this to him.

I got this one to get some ideas for a tattoo. In the end a learn a lot about the Japanese tattoo history but I didn't get a lot of inspiration. The book guides you thru the different styles and methods that its nice but if you're looking for some ideas look for other books.

Really great book for someone diving into this area of tattooing. More words than pics but hats not always a bad thing! I for sure learned a lot in this one!

Recommended to me by a well known tattoo artist, this book truly gave me the nuts and bolts info I needed to make the big leap. Especially helpfulto me were the explanations of the different areas of the body that are typically tattooed w/their Japanese names. There was also a stunning picture of a gorgeous girl with a ray of butterflies tattooed in the body suit style. As the art evolves from a badge of the criminal class to pure art, I believe we will see more feminine interpretationsof this masculine art form. Excellent from text to pictures!

Excellent book. Informative. Beautiful photographs of tattoos.
